So the great thing about BKC is that a) Btn lvl fights are easy, and b) the pacific war is handled. And I thought, being originally Australian, perhaps the Kokoda Trail or Milne Bay would make fun BKC fights.

Are there rules for jungle fighting specifically? Was thinking its probably just moving through cover penalties for command and control. Might even import some rules from CWC.

Also, since the Aussies on the Kokoda Trail were militia, would it be a simple matter of reducing the HQ's command value to represent this? I doubt they would be rigid in doctrine (even though I would use Brit army lists to represent them)...

Has anybody tried battles in the Pacific?

Thanks,
Chris

I've been playing several battles based on the Kokoda Trail campaign with BKC (re-jigging the Battlefront scenarios from http://www.fireandfury.com/scenarios.shtml).

They have been great fun and are currently 2-1 to the Japanese.

To represent dense jungle I use a series of smaller templates almost touching each other, rather than one big template. That way units have to keep stopping to enter each new template, as well as suffering a penalty to their CV. That makes it even more tempting for the players to stick to trails for moving - and easier to ambush!

Yeah I saw those scenarios. They look PERFECT for BK. Which miniatures would you suggest for Japanese/Aussie forces?

I have noticed many of these scenarios have too much detail (such as depicting individual squads). We are at the platoon/base level, so at what level are HQs and COs depicted? I would assume CO is btn commander, and HQ is company commander, but wasn't entirely sure if it was supposed to be higher (CO is Reg commander, HQ is Btn cmdr)

I must admit I've just treated as 1 stand = 1 stand and not worried too much about what level they are representing. I did have to cut the numbers down for some games, I just don't have enough Japs!

My armies for this are all 15mm Peter Pig. They were originally based for PBI so I have just left them on the 30mm square bases.

In fact I'm playing one of these scenarios tonight.

Even though Peter Pig looks nice, I see Eureka has some wonderful 15mm Japanese and Pacific Australians. Only infantry though. Would Peter Pig Brit Japanese/Brit vehicles and heavy weapons mix at all with them?

Sorry Greedo, I've no idea how Eureka and Peter Pig compare.

We fought "Into the Breach", the 3rd Kokoda Trail scenario tonight. A great scenario and a fun game, The Australians broke in turn 10 of a 14 turn game. They got bogged down on both initial advances but the flank attack arrived on cue. The biggest problem was that the Austrailans couldn't hit a barn door, 6 infantry stands shooting at 2 Japanese in trenches took 3 turns (with an average of 3-4 actions per turn) to kill just one of the Japs.

Greedo, I've just found a photo showing Eureka and Peter Pig figures here http://wdlovesme.19.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t...

So it looks like mixing the two ranges would work.
