Posted on 26 October 2009 at 16:05:16 GMT Well I have finally started some 6mm BKC armies for WW2... Only several years in the waiting! Our first game... http://www.guildwargamers.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.... And the two armies were painted in a few hours during the day before the game. Gotta love 6mm... Only takes a couple of hours to paint a whole army! |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 02:00:46 GMT We dont play artillery double 1's like that... Deviation halving is too soft, its for girls! We play that hit symbol on the die results in a direct hit and double 1 is two salvos... Much more fun and bloody. |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 03:21:55 GMT Cheers Nik... Lots more BKC to come... More Germans and Yanks for Late-War, some early and Mid war Russkies, some early/mid war Germans in grey and possibly a little British force too! Slowly building up the forces to have 4000 points of each. Plus the added benefit is all the US stuff can get used for my Indo-Pakistan War armies! |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 03:38:29 GMT Coolio - I'm looking at early Eastern Front at the moment - July '41 in 6mm & November '41 in 10mm...will have the advantage of 'portability' for 6mm Germans [lots of kit useable for France / Poland] & 10mm Germans in winter kit [Norway methinks] Whose figures are you using - I'm guessing Navwar or Scotia? |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 03:43:03 GMT A mix of both... I aint got the urge to paint any infantry at the moment... Im just using the stuff I did for the moderns! In 6mm no-one seems to notice any difference... Though I do have a battalion of Germans waiting to be painted. I may get a few Yanks to paint up, but as I have loads done for Moderns, Im using them for now... Plus I prefer painting the tanks! So its DD-Tanks and KV-1s tonight... Then I await a load of bases to arrive to get on with the rest of the Russkies (hordes of T-34/76s) and yet more Shermans... Plus a few grey Germans bits as a chance to do something different. Also got another 25 buildings to paint too! |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 07:25:59 GMT Nah - never happen I love my 10s too much - but sometimes there are limitations on kit - most of which seems to have been covered by 6mm manufacturers over the years; and, if you're looking at large forces, there is a significant difference in price as well of course! I've spent the morning tidying up my games room - and have discovered that I have actually got quite a bit of 6mm kit: FWC / Epic: Imperial Guard & Eldar FWC: Brigade Models Eurofed & Pacfed CWC: USMC, US HDV, Chinese PLA, SADF, Angolans, West German & Czech... No WW2 yet though |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 08:35:57 GMT I buy GHQ and Adler, so I feel the urge to lovingly paint them in a way that shows off all of the details of these beautiful figures. It means it takes me a long time to paint them but I'm happy with the results. It does make me envious though of those who can crank out armies at a drop of a hat. |

Posted on 27 October 2009 at 08:39:18 GMT I cant afford GHQ... But those I have painted, I find the extra detail makes them even quicker to paint as the model works to your advantage. Base colour, wash, re-highlight with original base colour followed by drybrushed highlights of base colour with a buff or off-white. Job done. |
