Posted on 16 July 2009 at 12:01:39 GMT Hi, Just thought I'd post a link to my pal's blog where we're running a German/ Rumanian versus Russians campaign in 20mm. Hope you like. Apologies for the length of the link. http://servicerationdistributionhobby.blogspot.... Cheers Gerry |

Posted on 12 August 2009 at 12:15:25 GMT I´m painting my own Rumanian army with Pendraken´s 10mm range. I have 6 bases of cavalry, and it should be great if you can put here the scenarios rules. |

Posted on 15 August 2009 at 11:02:56 GMT at Naxto. I don't have the Scenario/ Campaign rules to hand but I'll get the info and pass it on when I do. One of the other guys came up with the campaign plan. at SteveJ. The comedian is Simon( also responsible for the length of the blogs name) We actually game at his place on a sand table. Table is 24 feet long with 8 feet of it 5 feet wide, 10 feet of it 6 feet wide and the last 6 feet 9 feet wide. We used to mould the terrain and then spray it with watered doen PVA glue and then cut trenches and flock it etc.. but Simon changed the sand used and it pretty much justs gets dampened down and then moulded and flocked. It actually holds it shape pretty well. at Chris. We play a base represents a platoon and upscaled all distances by 50%.It was too congested otherwise. Infantry bases are about 60mm by 40mm. Support and HQ bases are 40mm by 40mm and vehicles as they are. Seems to work pretty well so far. Cheers Gerry |

Posted on 15 August 2009 at 19:22:23 GMT Thanks Gerry. That is spookily similar to what we do for 20mm and I think it works really well. Making custom measuring sticks was really easy and I generally do this for all the different periods/rules we play. I find the stick can have game information on it and measuring dowels (that is, rounded) are much friendlier on the models than a sharp edged tape. Cheers, Chris |

Posted on 28 August 2009 at 13:53:37 GMT Next Instalment Of The Campaign up on the Blog. Germans and Rumanians( Colin and Me) finally came up with a plan that might confuse the Russians ( Simon and Alan). Well it confused me anyway! German Allies Finally getting what they deserve...the short end of the Russian Artillery... And who said that German Engineering was the best in the world. Blooming Recce Radios failed two turns in a row... Don't worry Nick, The Rumanian Cavalry will arrive to save the day( Turn 9) if the Russians haven't bugged out by then Gerry |

Posted on 18 September 2009 at 07:24:56 GMT Hi Nik, In answer to the question, we normally only game for a couple of hours on a Wednesday, earliest somebody is there is 7pm and we're done by 10pm. We don't normally see one another outwith that, so you catch up on what's been happening, if someone brings new shiny/ painted stuff it gets drooled over by everyone, couple of rounds of tea and coffee and/ or beer. Only two of us have the rules so are " teaching" the others so to speak. Also we're quite a sociable bunch so if a topic comes up we can get sidetracked. Not everybody can make it every week( I haven't managed for the last fortnight due to work.. grr... ) and when everybody does, trying to keep 9 or 10 guys focussed on the task at hand is a bloomin nightmare. Lastly, we tend not to go in for small games, this one's about 6000pts Axis and about 3500pts Ruskies That said we still have a good laugh!!! Cheers Gerry P.s. Having read this back to myself, I've now realised I work too blooming hard and don't game enough. There's another New Years Resolution out the windae!!( For about the twentieth year in a row) |

Posted on 18 September 2009 at 08:54:14 GMT Well Gerry, I'm glad you spend as much time talking 'Balrogs' as gaming. It's something Nik and I spend too much time doing when we meet up . Having a good laugh is what it's all about. It is a game after all, something that some members of my local club would do well to remember! Luckily I do not have to play them. I completely understand the working too hard and gaming too little. This week I have barely seen my family and will once again be working all weekend, very probably very late into Saturday night. The only bright light at the end of the tunnel so to speak is that I have over a weeks TOIL awaiting to be used. Can't wait! |

Posted on 18 September 2009 at 09:15:30 GMT Cool - makes much more sense now I know the background Gerry And Steve's right: there is a long & proud history of talking 'Balrogs' between us - and long may it continue too As for the work-game balance - yep, fundamentally not right for me either |
