Open question on the BKC2 Assault scenario...
After the use of this scenario in the our last game....
My long suffering regular opponent had to listen to me moan on about how tough this scenario is to achieve a major victory (or maybe even minor one) as the Attacker, by actually taking the objective within the number of turns specified - poor chap.
Appreciate there will be variation based upon theatre and armies/battlegroups involved.
But in any reasonably sized game (avoiding v small point game issues) ....
What are people's experience in being able to cross two -thirds of the table into the opponents deployment zone (where the objective is)...and successfully meet the objective-taking conditions on p37 of the rules?
If the Attacker wins...I'm guessing it's almost exclusively by breaking the Defender's battlegroup, rather than objective taking. This made more difficult in either case, by the huge benefits to the Defender of cheap trench field defences available (turning a 50% chance of a hit on an infantry unit in the open into circa 10%).
Any thoughts on :
(1) Victory turn limit?
(2) Chances of taking the objective rather than winning by breaking the Defender?
