Hi,

I managed to get in a game of BKCII last Saturday night which I did as kind of a test of using the rules at "squad scale" (where 1 tank is 1 tank and 1 infantry stand is a squad):

They didn't, I got everything set up but other things got in the way. Decided to stick with platoon scale rather than squad scale as it felt better/required less models.

Next games tomorrow with the 6th Panzer engaging elements of the 29th Tank Corps in the Summer of '44. This will be a tank only game (Panzer Regt 11 with Pzkpfw IVH's and Panthers vs 25th and 31st Tank Brigades with T-34/85's) as an introduction for a new player. If I get the camera working I'll post some pictures.

Cheers

Did you play that game?

I'm not quite sure the difference between squad and platoon. Once I get to playing I kind of forget the size of the units and play it.

Yes, we did it at 1:1 as I still had all the models out but seeing at I lost 19 out of the 31 T-34's I used to 1 Pzkpfw IVH I was going to keep quiet about it.....

The difference between squad and platoon scale is mainly in the number of models - you need 17 for the Pzkpfw IV companies I used vs 3 at platoon scale. A company in line firing needs a fearsome number of dice!

Having played the two "scales" I like the platoon scale better to be honest, you don't need anything like the number of models you need at 1:1 (which has a big impact on storage). I did a list of the pros and cons of both "scales" and platoon scale has a lot more going for it than squad scale, so I'm not about to convert back to 1:1 that's for sure.
