Tomorrow the guys from the Peterborough club are playing a game of my devising, a theoretical Divisional attack by the 11th Armoured Division on the 10th June 1944 between Bayeux and Caen.

Its being played in 6mm at the base=platoon scale on a 7.5ft by 15ft table.

I've spent the past several months organising it from using period 1:25000 scale maps for the operational planning to the orbats etc.

I'll hopefully be posting a large blog post about how it went on Sunday on my website with plenty of pictures.

Cheers guys. I've as always tried to shy away from the usual type of games.

I gave both sides orbats at formation level and told the Germans to plan their defence. They had Pz Lehr and an Infantry Division in two delineated areas. The brits had some Recce ability to try and find the weakspot and in the end have managed to pick a decent battlefield amongst the bocage but are going to be running through a reasonable amount of Jerry but significantly not any Lehr troops for now.

There'll be off table artillery covering off table roads as the Germans try to reinforce/counterattack.

My main concern is that with a table that big and a ground scale of 2feet to the kilometer its going to be a bitch to lay out all the terrain off the map and will seriously eat into the game time.

well it's quarter to one in the morning and I'm still working on the orbat printouts for the players as well as handouts all round and resolving all the pre game bombardments.

There's nothing like being prepared.
