Posted on 01 October 2010 at 18:15:48 GMT Great report, thanks for sharing. Couple of observations for you Tony: - Why no recce? If you're approaching fixed positions (and you know you would be on the river), you should always send in a cheap team of scouts or a recce vehicle first and flush them out, then eliminate in detail. Remember the German elements on your side of the river can't reinforce each other without abandoning the trenches, so you should be looking to force one side or the other rather than splitting your force up into two. - Given that you didn't have recce (given historical accuracy this may have been why), leading with tanks into prepared positions occupied with infantry was suicidal, especailly given that there were Fausts in play. Never lead with tanks unless you have no choice! You should send the infantry in first, standing off the tanks to crush them as they reveal themselves. -Didn't see your scheduled barrage come down, and didn't see any smoke at all. What happened with that? I'd have thinned out an infantry team and got an FAO in there and made use of registered targets infront of each corssing then again in the village. -Yes, trenches are a bitch, but you can eliminate them with set piece attacks; you've just got to plan carefully and use all the cool breadth of BKCII rules to allow some surprises. Really good, easy report to read and fantastic photography. Would enjoy seeing more of your BKC reports! |
