Great photos and models.
I cant tell from photos but I assume the figures and AFVs are all 15mm?
I think the first photo is a great shot to help all understand the game situation.

Very nice, keel 'em coming. I had asked about strategy tips in another post. I think illustrated AARs like this, help immensely.

Great report, thanks for sharing. Couple of observations for you Tony:

- Why no recce? If you're approaching fixed positions (and you know you would be on the river), you should always send in a cheap team of scouts or a recce vehicle first and flush them out, then eliminate in detail. Remember the German elements on your side of the river can't reinforce each other without abandoning the trenches, so you should be looking to force one side or the other rather than splitting your force up into two.

- Given that you didn't have recce (given historical accuracy this may have been why), leading with tanks into prepared positions occupied with infantry was suicidal, especailly given that there were Fausts in play. Never lead with tanks unless you have no choice! You should send the infantry in first, standing off the tanks to crush them as they reveal themselves.

-Didn't see your scheduled barrage come down, and didn't see any smoke at all. What happened with that? I'd have thinned out an infantry team and got an FAO in there and made use of registered targets infront of each corssing then again in the village.

-Yes, trenches are a bitch, but you can eliminate them with set piece attacks; you've just got to plan carefully and use all the cool breadth of BKCII rules to allow some surprises.

Really good, easy report to read and fantastic photography. Would enjoy seeing more of your BKC reports!

Hi
Just back from holiday.

In reply to Kavok:

This was the third game and I am still learning the subtleties of the rules.
In solo i play forgot about recce, amazing how knowing both sides dispositions and plans allows you to forget some obvious stuff.

The Barrage did arrive but was spectacularly ineffective, should have mentioned it though.

Very good comments and tactics though. Thanks.

In solo play I find that it takes much longer to develop tactics, when playing other people you learn from other peoples mistakes and successes. So all comments and observations welcome.

While on holiday I painted a couple of Hungarian infantry battalions and some artillery, they may be the next BKC report.
