There's a new battle report available on the Durham Wargames Group website. Please use the following link:

http://www.durhamwargames.co.uk/battle_reports/...

The battle is Longchamps, Belgium, 3 January 1945 and was played using Blitzkrieg Commander 2.

Hope you enjoy reading about it as much as we enjoyed playing it.

Hi

Very impressive I`ve played that scenario a long time ago and remember why they called it the mad minute.I`m in a club in south shields and we play a lot of Cwc (french indo china),Fwc and have started on Bkc (north africa)with a lot more armies to come. I was wondering If your group of players fancy a bit of an inter club game sometime.

Nosher:
Ha ha, if only.....nope, there were more, that one was the standout though...the Americans did manage to fire on one of their own units at one point...

Jim:
Absolutely, and we'd be happy to host it at Durham...we have our own premises, and though club nights are Thursdays, we often game on other nights/weekends...we've a big Black Powder game on Sunday!!!

Drop me an email (address below), and we'll set something up...

Dear lord if ONLY there was just one blunder!

The Panthers storming forward was just the most outstanding blunder.

The Americans fired on their own troops (nothing new there).

The German command was in regular disarray, with commanders becoming increasingly confused and the infantry running back and forth at one point in disarray...

OVerall our German plan worked well. We took a fair few casualties advancing across open ground, but once we got into position on the flank the Americans were slaughtered and the combined fire of the Panthers and MkIVs nearly obliterated the town!

A very nice scenario...hard for both sides.

We discussed afterwards that it probably should have had a turn limit representing the historical US arty finally sorting themselves out to stick some fire downrange...

And yes i SHOULD know better than advancing Hanomags in column in sight of the US AT-fire...rookie error. Blush

Luddite: Cheers, very kind of you.

Jim: No worries.

I've been downscaling all my minis from 15s to 10s over the last few months (my 15s will all be for sale in te very near future), and I now have 10mm Late War German and Mid/Late War American finished.

I'm working on British troops now, the infantry will be finished this weekend, then I've got Early War British and German vehicles to paint up...

After that, I'll add a core of Russians, then I can paint up the extra vehicles as and when needed for whatever I need to do. Painting 10mm is a blast...!!!

BTW, I've now added Steve's (Luddite) perspective to the battle report on the DWG website.

Great battle report, with lovely clear photos and interesting painted figures.
I particularly liked the idea of using a real map from Google Earth to create your tabletop battlefield.
Perhaps all it needed was a white cloth (bed sheet?)to give the snow covered terrain?

Aye, snowboards are the only terrain we're missing really.

Must get the terrain officer on it!

Actually Brothercrow, that might be a good point. Perhaps we should avoid a campaign that was fought in the snow?

Very much enjoyed the report. Just enough info to keep the reader abreast of the situation without going overboard. And nice photos.

Best wishes, Keith.
