Nice one and good to see Italy being played.

Smoke is one of my fears with BKCII. I fear it may get over-usedSad

Nice report!

In CWC my 1967 arabs use smoke all the time, its there only hope when the IDF ranges are on average twice theirs.

big dave, why dont you put a limit on the LOS.

Say,60cm max for LOS in the Summer (heat haze).
Or,40/50cm max for LOS in the Winter (lots of sand blowing around).

The weather in the desert can be as just as unpredictable as in western Europe.

Suggestions re the smoke:

1) reduce the area of effect of any mortar fired smoke to the frontage of one target base only.

2) For the US mortars smoke was not usually carried in quantity so give the order to fire it a -1 to CV for 'special ammo' (taken from CWC). British 2" mortars would get the penalty for HE but not smoke! I've no idea what German mortar 'doctrine' was re smoke but from the reported casualty rates from mortar fire I suspect it would be as the USA.

3) Make people buy smoke rounds as an asset as per the army list notes, no asset available = no smoke!

NB I only have BKC1 so all the above may be irrelevant for all I know. Mea culpa!

Aye a great little scenario. We played it a couple of times and its surprisingly tough for the Germans. All that US armour just overwhelms the defenders...

This was the scenario that convinced us of the meritsof BkC though. Grin

As for Italy...yep we like to explore the lesser known regions.

A while back we ran a very fun campaign on Leros (which unfortunately collapsed as we used the laughably unplayable Flames of War rules Confused), and we're currently looking into reviving our long-standing plans to run the speculative Operation Sealion.

I've also been keen for some time to do Burma, but that may be a while off.

Oh, and yes, we do have some rather natty terrain at the club...the chaps do a jolly good job!!
