What are peoples thoughts on cavalry basing?

I have just got some Pithead Polish cavalry to add to my French battle group, which has mounted and foot figures.

And I'm undecided about basing, either mixed mounted and foot figures on the same base. Or all mounted, with a corresponding foot base???

I've done cavalry for both my SCW armies in 10mm - I based them as all-cavalry [primarily cos they look cooler Cool] - it will depend on how they're treated in BKCII - if they're purely a transport option, then I'll probably need to do some corresponding foot bases - if they're a unit option in themselves, I'll leave them as-is [although I think I know the answer to this one Wink

I did mix cavalry up in my 10mm ACW armies - for dismounted, with horse-holders...I think they look quite cool - here: http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/Confederate+ACWar... & here: http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/Union+ACWarmaster...

I got the pithead poles and I have based them as cavalry and corresponding dismounts. But on slightly smaller bases so they are not easily confused with "normal" infantry.

When the cavalry is dismtd, maybe include a base with a foot figure holding horses, for their transport. Smile Phil
