I am sure there are folks here who have tackled this. Most images I can find of an 88 with shield show the cylinders at the front slotted through a gap in the shield, like this:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:FLAK36-3...

The pendraken shield has such a gap, but it leaves the shield so low it does not clear the mount.

So, what have you done to get this beast together? I want to get this figured out before I order any KVs Wink

Buy the Minifgis oneHuh? although this is less detailed around the gun mechanism.

I managed to get mine together, but the cylinders are pointed rather downwards. See my two DAK versions here http://www.kerynne.com/games/DAK.html

Though the downwards angle of the Pendraken one (LHS) is not as noticable in that angle of photo.

Looks good, fred, I will try it again when I have a bit more patience.

I pushed the cylinders up a bit, and filed both the gap larger and the skirt shorter. Result held up through priming, will take pictures after painting.

You could leave the shield off if it is too much of a problem. There are lots of photos showing 88s minus the gun shield, although it doesn't look as cool.

I've just checked mine, and like Fred's the cylinders have a definite downwards slope! IMHO the Pendraken 20mm quad flak was worse to assemble though!

Cheers

Oh god the 20mm quad flak. Huh?

Im still sure I have put it together completely wrong. I expect lots of laughing when I finally update my blog with my German battlegroup and post the link here.

I have one of those in my drawer, have not had the nerve to try it yet. Anything I should keep an eye out for?

Loads of gentle filing and the 20mm flak does go together!

Again I will have to recommend the Minifigs Quad 20mm flak -- a touch tricky, but sounds no-way as bad as the Pendraken one.

I do generally like Minifigs guns, though the crew are a bit skinny. Pithead are definitely my favourite guns + crew, but until recently they only made AT guns.
