that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to use
The folded tilt option,
Or to take a bold step,
And use the fully enclosed version?

I have a Arrowhead Miniatures SdKfz 7 mostly finished, but I find myself struggling to decide whether to complete it with the tilt/cover folded back or fully enclosed.

The folded version would make painting it easier, but the open version looks cooler I think. It's for the Eastern Front(summer, so I guess that lends itself to the folded option...

However, I've lost the windscreen, so having the top up will make bodging in a replacement easier...

I think an open top look would suit you best, KD Cool

Closed up! That way you avoid all the awkward "So where are the gun crew?" questions.

(I'm assuming that it doesn't come with driver or passengers?)

It will be accompanying a deployed 88mm, so the crew will be busy shooting at communist peasants. I may be able to bodge in an driver, but will need to give him some legs...

Put the roof up! It's only me and Pete responding and I know that he's wrong. Hence I must be right. ROOF UP!

Both Pete and the Dr are wrong.

Correct solution = Buy 3 more models and have...

1 open top with driver only and no crew
1 open top with full crew and driver in
1 roof closed up - driver in if visible
1 for luck

Plus you can buy more 88s ...and get the limbered version too.

Problem solved and more toys to play with!

It only had a partial top so even with it up you would be able to see the crew.

So I would say have the top folded down - looks nicer that way.

Thanks chaps - helpful as always! Grin

I'm (most likely) going with top up, as
a) it make sit easier to pick up;
b) means I can sort out the missing windscreen problem;
c) I quite like the brown colour or the tilt Smile
d) the Eastern Front gets quite hot in the summer, so the crew will need some shade....Silly

@AJ: will do that only if you can siphon some funds from your bank for them...Gimme

Kiwi cave
You state it's for Russian summer. I'd have roof up to keep the crew cool and also
To keep the dust out. Them communist roads were mainly just mud and they turned very quickly into dust bowls in the dry hot summers.
