Would you attempt to pick up details on the model? Things like the pilot's face, the equipment stowed on the back or the seats? From what I can tell the machine should be all one colour. But it feels a bit flat in that awful 'plastic soldier' green I have discovered.

Personally I'm a detail man...

But this unit should fit in with the rest.

If there is no detail on any other units in the group ...then no point here I think.

I would add some highlighting.

Detailing doesn't take much at that scale, an earth colour for the tracks, brown for prominent exhausts, wooden boxes and leather seats, khaki colour for anything canvas covered, uniform colour for crew and blob of flesh colour for the face. Either a dry brush of a lighter shade of the vehicle colour if it's a dark shade or an ink wash if the vehicle colour is lighter than you want. White allied stars (either decals or have a go at free hand paint, at 6mm a star is a small white blobby shape with points if you have a fine enough brush! Thing to remember is how does it look from 2 feet away.

There are several sites on the internet that show the details of the weasel. Vehicle color was olive drab - a greyish-green color. Other colors as noted by Andy.

I sort of do what Andy says except I use an orange-brown for the exhausts that I stipple on and I use gun-metal blue for the tracks as a base, heavy dry brush of my orange-brown rust, followed by a lighter and more extensive dry brush of dirt/mud brown (that I do all over the vehicle).

I also use a wash, which does wonders for picking out the details. I use either the Devlan Mud wash or that red-brown wash.

A dab of flesh colour for the driver, maybe a dry brush/highlight - never hurts. Don't think it needs much more...

I need to find some decent Army Green paint this week end.

I have decided that my Toy Story green troops (!!) are helping me learn the scale before I hit a full battle group.

I use the U.S. Army AFV Olive Drab colour set:

Here's how my tracks turn out:


(The bright bits between the road wheels do not really exist and the orange on the vehicles is more of a red-brown.

Part of the reason for the poor show is that damn green. It actually looks okay on the T8 Stuarts I have, but the Weasels... >_<

Vallejo US Olive Drab seems to work much better. Under high magnification, it now looks awful! BUT on the table it's starting to work and not look too bad.

better.... rubbish camera though. Drab olive allows for picking out details and better shading. There is highlighting etc. But the camera is not great.

Looks nice - much better. I suspect even the nimble Weasel might be thwarted by the boulder field on the stand rear left, but still looking good.

Good stuff - I love a nice scenic diorama base!

The thing about GHQ minis is you don't have to paint a lot of detail into them. Just a couple splodges of colour here and there to break up the monotone and it makes a huge difference.

The nimble Weasel needed something to make it sit on the base after the superglue and wooden stick used would not separate. >_<

These do look excellent and you've had some fun with the superglue too! Perhaps it'll be the new bodyart having a Weasel stuck to your face or fingernail! Good job there's no Us tank named BEAVER or you'd have a bit of explaining to go through!

Thank you, they look much better in natural light. A learning experience, which is a good job too. In my first post I asked about "getting too involved" in all this....
