What do you use for an olive drab basecoat? I usually use Vallejo Russian Uniform but some of the color pictures that I've seen look much darker and some look way lighter. I know that OD faded due to sun, weather and use so here is a sample from light to dark, which looks right to you?
Back row Lifecolor OD faded 2, Lifecolor OD faded 1 and Vallejo Russian Uniform
Front row Vallejo Brown Violet, Lifecolor OD319 and Italeri OD

I use either Tamiya khaki drab or olive drab. Like mine dark though.

I did some web research and found that Stephen Zaloga reckons Tamiya OD is the best match - if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me!

I use a light undercoat and then wash with Tamiya OD until it looks the right shade for the size of model - I have OD kit in 6mm, 10mm and 15mm!
