Hello!

I'm preparing a Pendraken order for some early-war German armoured fun, using this TOE of Rommel's 7th Panzer Div from Spearhead: http://spearhead.wargaming.info/

It lists the medium companies as having Pz IV Bs, but looking at Pendraken's catalogue the earliest mark they do is the D with the short 75mm. Are they close enough?

I'm also getting a few bits to tweak my British battalion, namely some 2pdr anti-tank and 25pdr guns from division. Would a 1940 infantry division have a universal carrier AOP for the FAO?

Thanks,

Fletch

Greetings

I wouldn't necessarily rely on the Spearhead site for the precise Ausf model. I don't have details of which Ausf Panzer-Division.7 had in May 1940 though someone may well. Pz IV production was 35 'A', 42 'B', 140 'C' (1938-Aug 39), 248 'D' (to about Sep 40?). The B/C had no hull MG and an internal mantlet, the D had a hull MG and external mantlet. I'd guess you would be OK with a D. The couple of photos I could quickly find of 7 Pz Div in 1940 included the well known picture of masses of 38(t) but there's a Pz IV with them which looks like it has an external mantlet.

The FOO for a 1940 Field Artillery Battery had if I recall an 8 cwt car - my War Establishment notes are at home. The Universal Carrier was not yet in service (the Bren carrier and Scout carrier predecessors were in service) and I think the Universal's AOP variant was 1941 or so?

Thanks Edward!

I think I had noticed that on Wikipedia (another 'reliable' resource Grin) it says that 248 Ausf. D were produced and only 42 Ausf. B, and given the difficulty of finding a specific Ausf. B miniature, I would be surprised if the 7th Panzer's PzIVs were Bs.

As for the FAO, I'm just looking for a suitable miniature to represent it from Pendraken's catalogue that differentiates it from the regular HQs, who are each a mix of BEF officer figures and Humber staff cars.

Thank you for the info!

Greetings

A Field Regiment RA had each Troop HQ with 2 officers, 2 warrant officers, 21 OR and 2 8cwt with wireless and 2 15cwt GS trucks. There were 2 wireless sets per troop.

I'm not sure anyone does an 8cwt in 10mm so you could go for a Pithead staff car or Humber Box although these aren't quite right.

Regards

Edward
