I am planning on taking advantage of the GHQ Summer sale to get my Early War BGs started. The GHQ '40 Combat Command has 10 Char Bs, a high number if you ask me (though it is representing a DCR). I am thinking of ordering some extra packs of other tanks, but am somewhat stuck on what to order and the numbers that should be fielded. If anyone has done Early War France I would be interested in seeing what type of BGs you have put together.

Of course general opinions are welcome as well.

Thanks.

Have a look at the CD Test of Battle website, fairly sure they have TO&E for EW French there (can't access it at the moment to give links, blocked at work)

Using the "French Infantry Bttn. (1939-40)" from
http://www.ghqmodels.com/pages/military/squadga...
I came up with 12 infantry stands per infantry battalion plus support. With a wide line to defend I thought one HQ wouldn't cope so I split them into two formations.
I also used the Penny-Packets and Poor Combined-Arms Special Rules in the French Army List making them a bit of a handful to control.

CO

HQ(CV7), 6x Infantry, 1x MG, 1 Mortar, 1x 25mm ATG, 1x 47mm ATG

HQ(CV7), 6x Infantry, 1x MG, 1x Mortar, 1x 25mm ATG, 3x Tank Unit (R-35)

FAO, 2x 155mm Artillery Unit

Then for reinforcemnts:
HQ(CV8), 1x Recce Panhard, 3x Somua S35, 1x 25mm ATG Portee, 3x Infantry, 3x Truck

They lost partly due to the numbers of German tanks and no IATW, and partly because the guy playing French missed deploying one of the 25mm ATG.

We have also played ignoring the Penny-Packets rule with the French attacking but that wasn't my scenario & I can't remember the details.

Here you go see p11 for DCR

http://www.testofbattle.com/files/FrenchTOE1940...

Also lists which unit had which other tank as per Mark's post.

What is this GhQ sale I keep reading about? I went on their site and don't see anything about it.

I hope this doesn't break any Forum rules. If it does, my apologies and please remove.

"We are happy to announce our much anticipated sale. This sale runs through August 29th, 2011. If you use the following discount code:

URBAN

and order over $50.00 in merchandise, you will receive 15% off on your ENTIRE ORDER! That means that if you place your order online, and the total of the merchandise is $49.90, the discount code will not take effect until the total of the merchandise is over $50.00 (we have had some e-mails about this on past promotions). In addition, this sale is for EVERYONE, not just the kids at the cool table. We always send out the international postcards first, and it looks like some of them have already landed. If you don't have one yet, and you usually receive one, don't despair, it is on it's way.

As always, please let us know if we can be of assistance to you with any GHQ products.

Thank you for your support,
GHQ"

I thank everyone for the above information. I have most of the To&Es mentioned, what I was actually looking for was examples of what others on this forum have put into the field for there Early War games, like Forum Member Bach has done.
