Posted on 17 February 2011 at 16:20:32 GMT No pics I'm afraid, but the Panther should be quite a bit bigger than the Pz-IV. I was surprised at how big the Panther was when I first saw it at Bovvy a few years back |

Posted on 17 February 2011 at 17:39:25 GMT thanks pete, i have got 12 panthers and they are a bit smaller than the panzer 4s so im not sure what make the panthers are, i thought the panther should be bigger than the panzer 4, oh well that means i will have to sell the panther's. |

Posted on 17 February 2011 at 18:34:05 GMT Hi All, A quick search in Wikipedia gives the following dimensions for these two vehicles: Panther: Weight 44.8 tonnes Length 6.87 metres Width 3.27 metres 3.42 metres with skirts Height 2.99 metres Panzer IV H Weight 25 tonnes Length 7.02 m Width 2.88 m Height 2.68 m So there does not seem to be a great difference except that the Panther is a bit wider. I also had the impression that the Panther was alot more massive, but I was wrong. I've seen both at museums and the Panther certainly appeared both bigger and a lot more menacing. Regards, Ulf O |

Posted on 17 February 2011 at 20:55:20 GMT I think the Panther appears bigger because of the overhanging structure. The PzIV is narrower if you measure the actual width of the fighting compartment. The total width has the track guards added on, whereas the Panther has a fighting compartment that stretches the full width due to the overhang. Also the front is a solid block of sloping armour, whereas the PzIV is stepped and this makes it look less bulky. The tracks also play a part as the Panther tracks are quite a bit wider than the PzIV, again adding to the impression of bulk. |

Posted on 17 February 2011 at 21:56:23 GMT So that's 5.92m for the Pz-IV (hull) and 6.87m for the Panther (hull). |

Posted on 18 February 2011 at 11:29:04 GMT The Pendraken Panther is bigger than the Panzer 4. Its one of the best Pendraken models incidentally. The Pendraken Mark 4 (H/J) sideskirts are horribly out of scale (thick) though. I'm intending to make some new ones out of plastic card as I'm revamping my 10mm kit. |
