Idly wondering about investing in 6mm for the desert war.
The Combat Command packs seem to be a good starter - do they break down into a gameable unit - especially with the infantry. ie Is there enough to make a decent game?

I'm principally thinking of the Italian pack - not sure whether the 1940 or 1941 British pack is best matched?

I take it you mean this one;

Italian Armored Combat Team 1941
GHQ Stock # IT150
32 x Individual Infantrymen
4 x Semovente 47s
2 x AT guns (47mm)
3 x AB-41 Armoured Cars
6 x M13/40 tanks
4 x Lancia 3RO Trucks
2 x SPA35 Dovunque Trucks

Looks a good starting point giving you roughly a bttln each of tanks and Bersaglieri at 1 base = 1 platoon (1200 points at a rough guess). Probably too many AB41 but if you bought a pack of those you'd end up with 5 I think. Not sure when the Semovente came into things so cannot advise which Brit pack is best but both look quite fun.

Greetings

Looks like the British Western Desert 1941 Combat Command UK152.

40 x Individual Infantry
2 x Morris 15 cwt Trucks
4 x Crusader Is
3 x Boys Anti-tank Rifle Team
2 x Vickers Machine Gun Teams
3 x Marmon-Harrington Armoured Cars
4 x A13 Cruiser Tanks
2 x Mortar Teams
4 x Valentine MkIIs

I'm not sure if the Semoventes arrived before the end of 1941. The last A13s were probably lost in Op Crusader in December 1941; that operation also saw the first use of Valentines.

geoff- I got the British '41 and German '41 North Africa combat commands. What I did was put in another pack of Panzer III's and British A13 tanks. Could have used another pack of infantry each as you the recommended amount, but that includes mg's as well.
IMHO, its a great way to get started into the micro armour scene. Hope that helps.

After all that they only had the axis packs in stock so I left it. Thanks for the responses though.
Doubtless in the future (unless I succumb to 10mm or 15mm perhaps..)

I got the earlier British pack and all I have added is a pack of carriers, some more A9/A10s, a few Valentines and a pack of artillery (25pdrs). You can have a reasonable game with the basic pack though.
