Posted on 17 November 2010 at 17:11:03 GMT Saw these guys at Fiasco being sold by Westwind (who do Secrets of the Reich). 15mm European stuff with some early war as well. Only just started so have a small range. Anybody had any dealings with them/know if they're any good? http://www.forgedinbattle.com/ |

Posted on 17 November 2010 at 19:52:14 GMT Bought the Vickers MG pack at SELWG pretty happy with it fits in well with my old (green box) Battlefront stuff. I don't mind the moulded on base thing nearly picked up the Kubelwagen pack (4 for about £8) but I only needed one for a CO stand where I would not want the attached base so picked one up from PP instead. Can see myself picking up a lot of their stuff in the future but I have a huge leadpile at the moment due to several Battlefront items picked up in the clearance section of hobbycraft recently. |

Posted on 18 November 2010 at 09:47:23 GMT I've been looking at these for A cheap FoW force (to play with my son) for some time. I thought they looked ok, I have been under-whelmed by the Flames of War US infantry figures! I think that they might be lacking command stands in the 'support platoon' packs I looked at - this is judging by their website pix. However, that's easily sorted with a command pack from Mr Pig! The big discrepancy (and fairly pricey to rectify) is there appear to be no bases for the infantry/support packs! |

Posted on 18 November 2010 at 10:26:45 GMT Julian, There were no bases in the MG pack I purchased. It would be expensive to buy FoW bases from battlefront but there are other good options about e.g. Warbases make some nice MDF alternatives http://www.warbases.co.uk/#/flames-of-war/45432... I use chipboard (card) called Bazzil chips for my bases don't come in exact FoW sizes but close enough for me (e.g. 1.75x1.25" for medium base) for the odd occasion when I play FoW. This cost about £3 per pack containing up to 50 depending on size. If you really want 'official' FoW bases I have acquired about 30 medium and small which I would be willing to trade as I will probably never use them. |

Posted on 14 December 2010 at 06:42:42 GMT I know of another gamer who is very much into WW2 gaming. He first started with micro armour, then moved into 15mm just recently got some FiB mini's. He's a little picky about certain things on them, but gives them an overall rating of 9 out of 10 and highly recommends them. I'm looking at getting a blister or two. |

Posted on 14 December 2010 at 14:04:00 GMT The Forged in Battle stuff looks pretty good to me. I’m planning a late war British force next year and one of their mega deals represents a good saving over buying a British infantry company boxed set from Battlefront, even after factoring in buying separate bases from Warbases. Their tanks look quite nice and seem very good value, though I don’t need any more German armour ATM. Hopefully they will expand their range to include Allied vehicles soon. |

Posted on 14 December 2010 at 15:22:33 GMT A good saving is putting it mildly, £35 is the cheapest I have seen the Battlefront offering and it's £30 for the FiB mega deal which includes 3" Mortars and Vickers MG which BF don't. As stated above I will be buying more from FiB, 15mm WWII is looking really good with Plastic Soldier company and Zvedva getting in on the act too. As to BF I will stick to only buying their stuff when on special offer. |

Posted on 14 December 2010 at 18:51:06 GMT Indeed, you are basically getting your support platoons for free. I actually needed to pick up another Panzer Grenadier platoon to finish off some Germans I'm currently working on. Whilst the Battlefront Panzer Grenadier boxed set is about £35, an SS platoon and Sd251/1 Platoon from FIB comes to only £26! I'll be picking that up in the new year. |

Posted on 22 December 2010 at 20:07:35 GMT I got a tiger from Forged in Battle, the detail is excellent for resin. Also, the body is one piece and attached to the base, the turret and gun are separate, so only 3 pieces to glue together. The big problem is compatibility. The tank is a lot smaller than Battlefront or skytrex. The FiB Tiger is slightly smaller than a battlefront Panzer IV. . . . |

Posted on 25 January 2011 at 16:07:05 GMT I put in a small order with FIB last week and it arrived yesterday. I ordered one of the British Infantry Combos (the one that comes with an Infantry Platoon, an MG Platoon and a Mortar Platoon) and I also ordered a Hetzer as I wanted a look at their vehicles. I have to say I am impressed with the infantry. They are detailed and very cleanly casted with virtually no flash or mould lines. They fit nicely opposite Battlefront German Grenadiers, but tower over Battlefront British Paratroopers! However that’s down to the Paras being too small. The Hetzer seems a bit small, but I have nothing to compare it to as I don’t own any from Battlefront, perhaps I should have ordered something I actually already had in order to compare scales! However it is very nicely detailed and very easy to assemble. This is very welcome as Battlefront vehicles are generally a pain in the arse to put together. I’ve taken some photos and I will try to put them online at some point. |
