Hi guys,

I am considering selling off my 15mm collection and switching to 10mm scale.

i ahve 2 questions:

a: is this worth it?
b: are 10mm miniatures roughly in scale with N scale model railway stuff?

i am thinking of switching from the normandy campaign like i modelled in 15mm to play FoW (quiet) and going for the italian campaign for something different.

so any help guys?

I would think it depends on your fellow gamers, if they all game in 15mm better to stay at that scale. If you are a solo gamer with lack of space well 10mm may well be better.

I was all set to sell my 10mm collection and concentrate on 15mm, until I met up with two gamers who play in 10mm.

a) It is certainly cheaper especially for infantry with a wealth of figures available (mostly from Pendraken). If you want high quality castings for your vehicles then Wargames South provide these but you will be paying almost as much for your 15mm models.

b) Yes it is compatible with "N" scale which is lucky because there is not a large range of scenery available in 10mm as there is in 15mm. However, it is easier to scratch build.

cheers Adrian,

My main opponent who played 15mm now lives in Stockport as he has finished Uni and gone home, so i am now a solo gamer really cause everyone here in Doncaster plays Warhammer or 40k, and its getting stale again.

Also with the girlfriend coming home from uni now as well i have half the space in the house i used to :(

It's good that it is compatible with N Scale then, that might be the selling point for me, as most of the older generations of my family are model railway enthusiasts it wont be hard to work out how to create terrain in N scale..

If you can get to Mansfield, I know they play alot of 15mm FoW at Maelstrom. Its also close to me so could arrange some 10mm games Grin

I'd go with 10mm if you are short on space, but get samples first as some of the minis are better than others Wink

If you've got a car, your welcome to come to hull and check out 10mm in the flesh, so to speak.

Adrian - Mansfield is a bit far for me at the minute, but thanks

Pete - thanks for the advice.

Big Dave - thanks for the offer.

So having a scout round various website and the pictures on some of them like Pendraken aren't that good, does anyone have any advice about which manufacturers are better for differetn miniatures?

My experience is Pendraken infantry are really the best at the moment, although you need to pick and choose. WGS are just releasing a new line of infantry which are alot better sculpts and mix well with Pendraken.

For vehicles, WGS are superb and can be supplemented with the various hard plastic models from Dragon, Takara et al. I would say Pithead come next, their models look alot better in the flesh than the ones covered in paint on their website. Minifigs are showing their age, although some of the new moderns stuff are excellent. Most of my Pendraken vehicles/guns have ended up in the bin. Disapprove

Pendraken have the most complete range of the three.

I'd agree with Gun Hit

Pithead have really nice vehicles and guns. Both Pithead and Pendraken infantry are good (and compatible).

, and mixed Pendraken and WGS infantry without any stress, it gives many
I only use vehicles on the scale 1/144 of the WGS, Takara, WTM, Dragon Cando, Dragon kits, Metal Troops, and Kami de Koro Koro.
About infantry I use a mix of miniatures from Pendraken and WGS, which provides a variety of positions and postures.
