Hi guys

I'm looking at my SCW collection and wondering about using my WW2 Italians as CTV. So, just wondered if anyone can answer the following queries for me?

What was the colour scheme for the CTV's CV33 tankettes in Spain? Did CV33 flamethrower variants differ in any way (other than having the flame trailer & projector)?

Can anyone suggest uniform colours for infantry in Spain?

How common was the French Adrian helmet in the CTV?

What softskin vehicles were used by CTV troops in Spain? What was used to tow the 47mm ATG? What was used to tow the 75mm gun?

Hi Jules,
the following links give you a good idea of the colour scheme used in the SCW and for that matter, Africa, Albania and Greece. I have one reference, that I cannot find, that shows verticle stripes over the base colour that was a trial scheme used in Albania.

As you can see, pretty much a terracotta type base colour with grey green camo on top. The following article gives a guide on colours.

For the flamethrower tankettes, I just made mine simple grey green.

For my Italians, I used a mix of standard grey green uniform for one battalion, with the light weight blue fatigues for a CTV battalion. Other sources show images of Italians in typical desert uniform in a sandy colour. I used the following FoW article as a guide to the above.

Hope this helps.

As for info on the helmet, I can't help you there. As for vehicle tows, I imagine anything that came to hand would have been used.

Cheers for those links Steve!

The Cooper one is very useful indeed!

I might opt for doing some guys in the blue fatigues, as I'd wondered about double use for WW2 Sicily campaign too.

If you go the green and blue uniform route, they can be used for SCW, Balkans, East Africa, Early Desert, Russia, Sicily and ItalySmile. I added some sand coloure jackets to command bases etc to make them look like veterans and to make them stand out a bit more.

If you are going to Nikfest you may get to see them in action.

I won't be doing Nikfest, but I'll be at Lincombe Barn, Bristol later this month!
