Having come from painting 28mm (Fantasy) and 15mm (Ancient/Medieval), my first option was PANIC!
After that subsided, rather than trying to paint every small detail, I went for a more 'impressionist' style. Which basically means that you splotch some paint on till it looks right
Splotching is the main technique, something a bit heavier than a drybrush, but not as heavy as a basecoat. And since I like to give everything a dirty look with a blackwash, I also use colours that are a bit more bright from the start.
But I am still amazed what other people can do in this scale.
