Finally I got to painting my 2mm late War Germans and ran straight into a problem: I find it incredibly hard to paint these little fellows accordingly! I've tried some different paint jobs, but in the end there are always the same problems - either their bases look wrong (I've been using Citadel's Snakebite Leather with a drybrushing of Bleached Bone) or the vehicles' details get lost (Golden Yellow base colour with wash of Brown Ink and a light drybrushing of Golden Yellow with Bleached Bone - camo looks even worse).
Maybe one of you guys can give me some advice on colour choice or some general tips?

Bases [indeed, everything] will benefit from being lighter - otherwise the figures will get lost...compare my first 2mm attempt for ACW & the redux version:
