Minifigs are on the smallish side, but if you insist on natural human proportions their infantry is a good choice. I find some of their models, especially trucks, a bit fiddly.

Pendraken infantry are my faves; lots of detail, chunky but as a result easy to paint. With so many variations, it is easy to get that rather motley late war German look.

Since I have some 144 pre-paints the slightly larger pithead vehicles are a good fit for me. Their infantry works well with Pendraken, although I find the detail a bit lite. Of course, what works for you will depend on what you like to paint.

For Poland, really Pithead is the company. For late war, I have gone with mix and match; many of my tanks are pre-paints and I do have some Wargames South (lovely, but my wallet is still complaining).

Pithead.

You can happily mix Pendraken Infantry with Pithead infantry.

Pithead vehicles are generally bigger than Pendraken. You can probably mix most Minfigs vehicles with Pithead.

Pithead is a bit weak currently on late war Soviets.
