I've been browsing through the army lists in the new rules in the search for something to do for an out of the ordinary BKC battlegroup.

I like the idea of Winter War Finns using a combination of Wargames South and Pendraken figures but am waiting for one or the other to produce the reindeers, ski troops and sleighs.

As a stop gap alternative, I was thinking of Norwegians but I'm not sure what to use for the figures. The thing thatsprings to mind would be the Pendraken WW1 Austro-Hungarians perhaps with a few German mountain troops mixed in for variety?

What would you suggest?

Hi

I thought that austrian WW1 would do quite well for Noggies! I think that the gebirgsjager might be in 'anorak' so therefore less useful?

That's a good point but I suppose I could get away with it if I just used them for the recce unit?

The biggest problem is finding one of these:

Any ideas?

I think you could use any of the WW1 FGs from Pendraken: IIRC mine here [as SCW Nationalists] http://nikharwood.pbworks.com/BKC%3A-Spanish-Ci... are GP5A 77mm FG crew in helmet: leave the shield off & I think you'll be fine...

I was thinking 'French 75 minus gunshield' myself!

Jimbob.

Irregular Miniatures have a 7.7cm German gun in their 10mm WW1 range that might do the job?

On the other hand Ian Kay (the owner / sculptor)is often willing to make a new model if he thinks it will work commercially or if enough models are being bought to justify the effort. Email him and send him the link you noted above. I have done this in the past and it resulted in a whole new range of 15mm figures!!

You could also send him a photo or link to what the Norwegians (or is it really Finnish you want to do?)troops looked like in WW2 and ask him to make them too! Explain that the gun is one used by Norwegians and Finns.

You have nothing to lose. He may take you up as Ian likes to expand new scale ranges. Most of his efforts have gone into 42mm recently but he was quick to join in 10mm with some ranges and may take you up!!

Thanks guys,

I've gone with the A-H infantry, MG's and guns as they should do the job nicely, although I might be short of figures for the CO and HQ bases. I might see if I can use some of the Pendraken Finns as well.

An idea what type of trucks the Norwegians would have used?
