I have it in my head that tank riders dismount if their ride fires or comes under fire. The passengers bit and tank riders on p18 make no mention of it.
Did I dream it?

It might be buried somewhere wierd... but I do remember confusing it with Spearhead the one time anyone used it and came under fire that I recall. But I can't remember which way round I confused it.
Sorry, that's all terribly unhelpful

You're useless!
But I'm sure that I didn't dream it .... plus I'm not sure tank riders would stay on if 88s are pinging off the armour. The rules say you can target the riders or the tank, and not much else.

Treat them the same as troops in soft transport.

I'd be tempted to say any hits against either cause the passengers to dismount, suppressed? Dunno, i can see that being generous. Perhaps give the passengers a hit as well?

Found it! P21 under knock out at the top of the page, para 2 :
"When transport carrying passengers are hit but not knocked ou.. out.... troops riding on tanks dismount suppressed"
Thanks all, I knew something bad happened to them.

I suspect I remembered what's in the rules, then

So it's just "hits", not simply "unsaved hits" - which makes sense. Tank riders wouldn't like things pinging off the armour no matter how safe the tank crew are.

It can't be a pleasant or safe mode of transport or we wouldn't have APCs
