Apologies if this has been asked before.

If you pay points for a Sdkfz 251/2 German half-track,(as an example)can you dismount the 81mm mortar that it carries and use it separately on foot or do you have to pay points for the mortar as well if you want to dismount it?

(Hope that makes sense).

The mortar is built in to provide a stable firing platform. perhaps the mountings to take it out will not be carried. I would assume that paying for the specialist vehicle would make no sense if you just were to take it out! just pay for a mortar team and a truck to transport it if you like?

In reality the 81mm in the 251/2 was dismountable. That's the key thing - just check in any reference work whether it could be dismounted or not. If it could be then take it out if you want. But edenviews has a valid point. If you plan to drop it off if a built up area I'd have had them walk!
