-1 per battery above three for standard artillery IIRC. So 4 batteries would be -1CV for your FAO. Unless you're calling in rockets, in which case it's -1 per additional battery.

Means it's most productive calling in artillery in groups of 3 to get the most bang for your attempt to call in.

Some army lists (may just early British, I haven't checked all the lists) have the special rule 'Dispersed Artillery' and that does indeed mean that the is a -1 for each additional artillery unit being ordered beyond the first. Thus, if you want to order 4 batteries the command roll will be at -3. However, the artillery units on such lists tend to have options for big units with high numbers of attacks, for example the 25 pdr artillery unit has 12 guns firing and thus an attack value of 9 as opposed to the usual 3 or 4.
I found this with the British North Africa lists and it seems to work fine.

British artillery usually comes in massive 'batteries' compared to other nations - eg they're on six or nine dice as opposed to two or three. So allowing three 'batteries' to fire at eighteen or twenty seven dice without penalty would be horrendous Smile
