A russian 82 mm (or 120) mortar battery contains six barrel

How many onboard BKC units are necessary to represent this battery ? And offboard ?

You can use 1 or 2 stands. I always use 1 unless fielding a Guards infantry regiment. Keep them on table. Besides their limited range, Soviet doctrine was to use mortars on the front lines to self-adjust their own fire. Trained FOs were scarce in the Red Army and they had better things to do than adjust mortar fire.

Up to half a dozen tubes I'd use one stand like Cold Steel suggests, for 8-12 two etc.

I might also "fudge" for effect - if the unit/scenario in question should have particularly effective mortars (or tanks or MMGs or whatever) then I might use one stand per three tubes. Or if it was there but a bit useless perhaps eight tubes might be represented by one stand!
