I played a solo infantry game yesterday and had a few questions about infantry guns and mortars:

1. Can a single observing platoon within 20cm of the HQ be used to observe for both the battalion mortar platoon and the regimental IG's at the same time? For the purposes of the game I assumed they could but wasn't sure especially with regard to the regimental guns. In the game the IG's were attached to the single defending German Grenadier Battalion.

2. If 1 above is correct I assume there's nothing to stop me targeting 1 enemy platoon with all mortars/IG's firing?

3. What do people usually do with mortars that would usually be allocated to each company (e.g. 2x 8cm in a 1944 German Grenadier Company)? I have grouped them together to make a 2nd platoon at battalion level but felt that makes them more effective than they should be especially if both platoons are called in together.

Thanks
Richard

I think technically I drew as I both lost and won the game but knowing my dice rolling anythings possible!

For an infantry only game it played really well (once I started remembering the rules!), other rules I've played tend to make infantry games pretty tedious. I used scenario 2 from the rule book with 1 German battalion as defenders holding a large hill and 2 US infantry battalions trying to take it off them. The US battalions managed to storm the hill on the final turn wiping out all of the German infantry platoons in the process. Strangely one of the two US battalions took all of the losses even though both battalions advanced side by side and had a similar exposure to enemy fire.
