IGs can fire direct or indirect "The type of fire affects the score to hit the target". Does this mean that indirect fire is worked the same as for on table art. fire with the friendly unit acting like a FO, with deviation etc, or, is it worked like mortar fire?
Sorry if this has been asked before and I missed it or maybe I'm just thick and it's spelled out clearly in the rule book somewhere

Direct Fire is where the on table gun has its own LOS and LOF to the target and can fire on an order from a HQ.

Indirect fire is where another friendly unit spots the target (yes like the mortar example see page 25) and is within 20cm of the HQ who issued the order (see also note 2 page 12)that you do not need to deduct -1 per 20 cm distance of the HQ to the gun or mortar, but pass the CV roll.

Also on the errata there is a minimum distance beyond which it can fire at the enemy, 30cm measured from gun to unit being fired at, if recollection serves me!

Also look on page 140 for the hit summary. Direct and indirect fire use different numbers to hit a target.

Maybe I didn't explain my question properly, if the IG fires direct at inf with stats of e.g. 2/60 then what are its stats when firing indirect, how does it affect the score to hit the target? Does it still throw 2 hit dice?

Ah, thanks OldenBUA, our messages crossed, I see what Pete meant about indireect fire v AFVs and I was doing that anyway so problem solved. Thanks
