In the photographs illustrating the infantry support weapons firing example on pg 25 of the BKC rulebook is there a reason why the German 81mm mortar cannot fire at either of the Russian T-28's? I've read and re-read the section on mortars and can't see any reason why not - am I missing something here?

thanks in advance

I think that the example is simply saying that the mortars could fire on the infantry....not that they are only allowed to shoot at the infantry.

Using the mortars to fire upon the tanks is unlikely to be productive, however, as you will only hit/suppress on 6+.

Jesse has it - mortars can fire at armour, but it's unlikely to do much....unless you have quite a few mortars firing at once, and get a few orders off....

Ok, thanks very much for that.
I appreciate that in most situations the infantry would be the preferred target, I just wanted to be sure that there wasn't some rule preventing the tanks being named as targets.
