Hi all.

In the book it says a Recce Unit can be downgraded to a combat unit for a -20 point value in cost. Do the limits for the unit remain the same.

For example, in the German North West Europe 1944+ list i can have a 234/2 Puma Recon, 1 per 1000 points. If i was to downgrade this to a Combat unit i presume i would still be only able to get one?

Deducting 20 points doesn't work with BKC-II Silly The points formula is calculated differently and isn't as straight forward as that I'm afraid.

Fair enough. The reason i ask is that i'm trying to great a mechanized recon force - hence i want to maximize the armored cars. However as all armored cars in the lists count as Recce or Recce Support, i need to find a way to convert them to combat units.

Hi,
With your opponents agreement anything is possible...
If you can justify the unit composition, then carry on.
If cost -20 points suits, then it can't be that far off.
(It's worth comparing it with something similar, perhaps from another army list.)

I just build to historical OB's and ignore the list limits.

Nemesis, If I were you I'd just get your opponent to agree. At the end of the day, you're going to be facing him with a load of tat anyway, so it shouldn't cause him much concern! (Spoken as a Recce Battalion owner...Huh?)

I am intrigued to know if Pete has any more to add as I was going to field an Sdkfz222 vehicle for early war Germans in a std role with the advantage that it is not limited to normal command distance penalty.
However this comment regarding the points has been made before. It is for very selfish resons I ask as it fits snugly into my 1000 pts force.

Bugger ! Taking 20 points off the cost of a recce unit is wrong ? I've just given my International Brigades a BA6 company based on that premise . So how do I point them ? (don't say "at the enemy"Wink.

On a more helpful note, the Pz II recon costs 80 and the regular 60, so dropping the BA6 from 90 to 70 seems fine if you like doing the points thing.
