Posted on 14 March 2011 at 19:13:08 GMT Hello Pete, Off-Table Artillery ---------- 3x 100mm gun stands are off-table. 2x Forward Artillery Observers are on the table; each with a command value of 6. --------------------------------------- One arty. observer fails his command throw for the three guns. He throws a 7 to 11. --- Afterwards in the same turn, can the other observer: (a) Throw for a 6? (b) Throw for a 6-1 =5? (c) Or? (d) Or not at all? ----- Respectfully, Bill |

Posted on 14 March 2011 at 19:34:49 GMT Option (a) as although there is a -1 modifier for each successive order to a unit or formation (command modifiers table on page five) a failed command roll "means the order was not issued" (paragraph 3, page 5) to the failed attempt from the first FAO will not adversely affect the second's. |

Posted on 15 March 2011 at 10:25:44 GMT Really? I though off board arty was like an on table command - once someone has tried and fluffed the roll no one else can try to command them that round. |

Posted on 15 March 2011 at 21:01:15 GMT Okay, well a follow up question. The American lists give the Yanks Close Artillery Support; if an American HQ units attempts to call in arty and fails the roll can that command unit then carry on attempting to command it's troops or is it done for the round? |

Posted on 15 March 2011 at 22:25:28 GMT Q. "...if an American HQ units attempts to call in arty and fails the roll can that command unit then carry on attempting to command it's troops or is it done for the round?" A. "Yes." Double-barrelled, mutually exclusive proposition in that question, Pete. I'm thinking the "Yes" was for the "is it done for the round" part and not the "can that unit then carry on attempting to command its troops" bit. |

Posted on 15 March 2011 at 22:56:53 GMT I wish people wouldn't ask double-barrelled questions Yes to the latter part of the sentence. |
