Hi

If side A fires it`s off table artillery in turn 1 but doesn`t use it on turn 2 could side B use counter battery fire on turn 3. Or can counter battery only be used against artillery that has only just fired and not if it has fired sometime during the game

"When an off-table artillery unit opens fire, The opposing player may request artillery support against it next turn by using an FAO" (p. 27, para. 5).

So only in your turn immediately following the enemy battery's firing I think.

sounds right. So no delayed counter battery.
