Another one from last night's game. The errata states that "FAO and FAC should be placed along the table edge, then may move at the end of the command phase".

Does this mean that the FAO/FAC do not have to make a command roll to initially get on the table like the CO/HQ's? i.e they just move on at the end of the command phase as above.

Yes, the only time an FAO/FAC makes a command roll is when they are calling in artillery or aircraft. They are independent units. They have no troops under their command on the table to order about.

Cheers T-Square. Makes sense, now that you put it like that.

I asked this question a while back because the FAO looked mighty lonely when the adjacent HQs both failed to get on the table on turn 1 and the enemy were pondering the possibility of overrunning him on my baseline!
We decided that whilst it was necessary to place the FAO/FACs at the edge of the board at the start of the game, they were only a marker to indicate where they would enter when the player decided and thus couldn't be affected by anything.
This also means the FAO/FAC couldn't command anything on the first turn either as he wasn't really there. You can't have it both ways!

This has been Pete's answer to the question previously.

On turn 1, as the attacker, you need to use assets to discomfort the enemy.
