Posted on 26 August 2010 at 17:29:54 GMT I have often wondered about this and thought I would ask. In the Close Assault rules it is clear that troops being carried in/on transport dismount on contact. It is also clear that if the transport is suppressed the troops dismount suppressed into the fight. But this sentence has me a little stumped: "Any hits taken during the assault remain with the troops, not the transport." So, does this mean if a hanomag is shot at with response fire en route to contact (e.g., hit by a bazooka prior to dropping off the troops into contact) and takes 2 hits without suppression, the infantry carry the hits forward into the close assault? That seems a little strange to me. I can certainly see that troops riding on a tank that are separately shot at prior to dismounting should carry these hits forward, but the point of armoured transport was to protect the infantry. So, is the sentence in question more focused on tank borne infantry and guys in trucks (basically where ever AP factors are used in response fire) or does it also apply to fire taken with AT factors such as against half-tracks?
