Having played my 1st game in about 5-6 months we found ourselves a little rusty with some aspects of the rules. Running through the rules last night, I notice that mortars now have a do a deploy action. It this for all mortars sizes in any period?

Therefore, if you want to move 10cm after firing and the fire again..................... it would be fire, deploy, move, deploy, then fire with each successive command roll?

I think is is to limit the power of mortars in the game, rather than a change for realism sake.

Personally I do not see why towed guns etc can not move and deploy in the same order. One reason I do not use them unless in defence is that you are bound to get them destroyed before they deploy as you miss the crucial last command Angry

The mortar teams get their field manuals out and check whether they are permited to initiate an assault under Close Assault in p.30. Grin
