Hi All,
I realized that I am not quite sure about how to interpret something fairly central;

I assume that all fire must be declared before any firing is actually carried out. "I will fire my 2 MGs and Mortar att that squad in the woods", for example. True?

I assume that this would be applicable in the Initiatve and Command phases. True?

I cannot find it explicitly stated in the rules, but a few of the examples can be interpreted to imply it.

Thanks in advance,

Hi wolf,
You must declare all fire in the command phase and when there are more unit, of various type (ex. tanks inf. ecc.), that fire at the same target add all the dice together.
when you are in initiative phase resolve every fire separately (ex. if there are two inf units (A e B) that fire at an enemy inf. first fire A calculate hits and eventually suppression then fire B).

errr...OK. So what about this then.

5 panthers recieve a successful Fire order from CO. They then choose to fire at 5 Cromwells in front of them.

We have been playing it as follows; Panther 1 declares a Cromwell target and fires. If not destroyed the player could then choose to goto Panther 2 and fire at the same Cromwell and so on....until that Cromwell is destroyed. Then move to the next Cromwell say with Panther 3 and repeat.

So is this correct or should we be playing it that each Firing action is declared target wise before any firing actions are resolved? i.e Each Panther declares it's Cromwell target before commencing firing?

It would be the last case, as you need to add all the dice firing direct fire at the same target together before determining the effect. See second picture on page 22 and first picture on page 23

This is why I really like these rules. It makes a player think a bit about choosing his targets wisely before firing.

It could happen that you commit to much fire at a target but also to commit not enough.Silly
But I also play it this way and I like it!Cool

Aha Noted. Hmmm. Yes it does make it just that more interesting now on how much to commit. The CO's life is never dull.
