Hi Gents,

Quick one I hope. . . In the second round of Close assault after a drawn first round, can either side change their supporting units?

We took it that as it is a new round, sp units can be re-allocated since the rules do not forbid this. Right or wrong?

Pete,
Just checked there and unless I'm blind or barking, I don't see anything written to prevent changing sp units.

The specific circumstances were:

In the 1st round, the defender (in trenches) had a good chance of a win, so allocated maximum sp. Against the odds, the result was a draw.

For the 2nd rd, with the attacker hitting on 4,5,6, the defender was almost certain to lose and didn't want all the sp units suppressed. We couldn't (and still can't) see anything one way or the other compelling either side to keep the same units in sp in a 2nd rd of combat.

Quite likely I'm missing something and actually quite happy to make my own solution, however the last line on P30 that you refer to doesn't answer. Understand entirely that sp units suffer the outcome, just not sure if they're compelled to support a lost cause.

Once they are committed, that's it - they are part of the assault, even when it spills over into another round of fighting under the same "order".

Great, got it. We could see arguments for and against. Being the Gent I am, I allowed the defender the benefit of the doubt, against my better judgement. Ultimately it didn't affect the outcome anywayGrin

Thanks again,

Si
