I had a cracking early war game with Nosher last night and one question arose.

Normally if issuing orders by an HQ to elements in another battlegroup you take a -1 cv (with the armies we were fielding). However, does this apply to the CO (who had his own battle group) as technically he is in command of the whole force?

We played that he took the -1 but we weren't sure that was correct. Any thoughts?

Nick, please reread the page 43 box on tactical doctrines. Under normal doctire you'll find your answer [Smile

Ahh, but don't forget that if you're using the CO to issue orders to a formation that failed to do anything at all due to their first command test being failed, then he will be on -1 (plus distance modifier).

Yes - in this case though it was to a group of units which had not been previously ordered at all (their HQ having been shredded by artillery!). Smile
