Guys

Just working out my first battle-group - planning on doing a British Assault (2000 points)in NW Europe.

Can I buy off-Board Artillery Units for the Brits (it appears as if Brist cannot buy On-Board Artillery Support units for NW Europe)?

If so I was going to buy an 8-gun 25pdr battery.

Do I have to buy artillery assets in order to fire these units?

Or are assets only bought to allow Scheduled fire?

If so, and say I buy 2 x HE assets - I assume that means I can schedule two turns of fire from the 25pdrs (and in those two turns the 25pdrs cannot fire "normally"Wink.

Do I have it right?

Many thanks

Scheduled fire needs an asset: one per unit per task.

Requested fire will need the services of an FAO.

"and in those two turns the 25pdrs cannot fire "normally" "
Correct Smile.

You can also delay or cancel the scheduled strikes using the FAO.

For 2000 points I would go with 6 batteries (6 models) of 25 pounders (2 regiments), plus two FAO. It is also worth buying the Auster to carry one of the FAOs as well.

Three batteries would be a minimum, but still take two FAO. Alternatives might be 5.5" batteries (less attacks but can be used for CB fire) or 7.2" btteries (less hits but more attacks and could be used for CB fire).
