The forum search didn't result any finds with "hidden recce" so I open a new topic.

Bottom of page 42 speaks when dummies are revealed and one of the instances is "..or when it is located by recce".

Does this refer that recce uses the dummy unit to contact a command? Does the recce has to be succesfull in that contact for the dummy to be revealed?

Or does it refer to something else?

p.s. Here's a bonus Q. Page 35 Breakpoint specifically says softcover transports are not to be counted. I.e armoured ones count. Page 42 Flank Deployment only says transport. So armoured transports aren counted when figuring out how big the flanking force can be?

Regards both Breakpoint and Flanking force. Are units not counted above ignored for applying the rules too? Do destroyed trucks count against your break point? Apparently halftracks don't crow the number how many units you can use in your flanking force, but are they eat a slot when you inlcude them to your flanking force?

I would say that it works as such:
Dummy unit (StuG III) in a woods area/tree line.

1. Dummy unit is shot at by two Sherman 75's at 20cm range, two hits taken but unit does not fall back: Dummy StuG is still 'alive' and is not revealed to be a dummy unit.

2. Recce Unit at 20cm sees the Dummy Unit and communicates successfully with nearest command unit, Dummy unit revealed.

My reasoning for the 'successful contact' is that in reality the Recce unit is reporting back to their HQ and saying "Hey, don't waste your time shooing this, it's a fake."

That sounds good, but Recce does not have to have LOS to the dummy or any unit - its states that Recce measures to nearest enemy unit and communicates to nearest Command, i.e. nothing aboout LOS to enemy unit. Its like an abstract representation of overall enemy awareness.
