Last night we had a situation come up where a squad charged an enemy unit in a Built Up Area, which we were playing as providing soft cover (hits on 5+). First question: Do both units hit each other on 5+ because both are in soft cover?

After the combat, the losing squad fell back 8cm and the other squad decided to hold position. Both were still inside of the same BUA (it was rather large). On the next turn, can the two squads see each other, seeing as how more than 5cm separates them and that's usually the determinant for LOS?

As the current version of BKC stands, yes - they both hit on 5+.

I'd say no, they have moved away from one another and are now concealed.

OK, thanks for the quick response. The Soviet player was pleased—he had to hold the BUAs to win and was happy to be more than 5cm away!

I use the CWC for close combat and on pag.35 under "calculating hits" rule says "Units always count as being in the open during an assault move, even if they move through cover during that move". It's right?
If I use CWC for artillery and fire from mortar can I hit
armoured units?
Thank.
