251 etc are armoured, so the " * " applies "no effect on armoured targets" - except they could suppress, do it enough and you can KO the armoured target on a fallback, usually >10cm. Otherwise they can only KO in close assault.

When the 251 gets supp. (rolling for suppression on 6+) the passengers in it may leave the vehicle but are supp when they do so.

Small arms can only supp so i think they do not fall back on the hits taken next turn.

Talking to veterans, even Universal Carriers gave reasonable protection from small arms, so I would go with close assault only.

But you can still get them to "rout" by falling back too far, and thus KO'd. That's one way inf can deal with tanks - though it's not very realiable!

If firing at a carrier in the open with small arms, is it 4,5,6 to hit, but 6 to suppress,(providing attacks not saved!) or is it 6 to hit, 6 to suppress?
