it states in the command blunder roster, that you target the nearest friendly unit to the target point. but does that friendly unit take all hits from your artillery units or do you use your template with the friendly unit at the centre?

I've always understood the nearest friendly unit to be the 'marker' for the template as the blunder represents the artillery falling short and therefore representing a full fire mission falling on your own troops, oops!Grin

You roll deviation from that unit.

One more problem came up with this during our last battle: do you count a command unit as the nearest unit when it is the closest to the FAO or do you take the nearest not-command unit?

Can't follow I dont see the point you make about the FAO

Art Blunder 5-6 Friendly Fire, states the following:

The friendly unit nearest to the aiming point.

In the game this go's as followed:

You set the aiming point where you want your art to come.
You roll the dice for the FAO 6 + 6 = 12 blunder
You roll one dice 5: friendly fire
You look and measure from the aimingpoint wat friendly unit is the nearest to that aiming point. That unit will now be the aiming point.
As Pete said: from that friendly unit you roll for deviation and the rest follows, roll to hit, to wound, save etc....

I think the nearest unit will not be a comd unit, as you can not target a comd unit.

I think that means you can't deliberately target a Command unit, but the scenario you describe is a 'blunder' and unfortunately the FAO got his map references wrong and dropped the 'stonk' on his commander by accident, big oops.Smile

In the game we all get around not deliberately targeting command units by dropping artillery on a nearby unit and hope that it deviates onto the command. I did it myself last night and managed to score no hits on 3 T34/85s but supressed the command. This amounts to the same thing as you describe.

Yeah thats what I meant, I was being lazy! Templates accidently hitting a command stand are the only way to hit a command stand, as I understand the rules.
