Situation was that my FAO was rather lonely on my left flank. My opponent had his recce unit and his FAO on the opposing side. The recce did its job with my FAO being the nearest enemy unit. Then his FAO dropped everything he had on top of my lonely FAO with rather final results.

Can you do that in the above way?

you cant target a command stand so no this shouldn't have happened.

If another unit had been targeted and the beaten zone covered the FAO then the FAO gets hit like any other unit in the zone.

Get the pointy stick outGrin

Thanks. I guess I will leave the pointy stick at home and hand him his ass in the next game! Grin

I think you are saying his recce unit was near your FAO. If so he could have over-run your FAO, with similar results (assuming your FAO couldn't have retreated a half-move to another friendly unit).

It was not that close.
Though this reminds me of another question:

A unit is falling back into a command unit:
1. What happens to the command unit?
2. Is the unit stopping its move?
3. Are units that would be knocked out otherwise (fall back 10+ cm) that fall back into another unit that is less than 10 cm behind them not knocked out?

If I remember correctly:

1. What happens to the command unit?
Both units are suppressed.

2. Is the unit stopping its move?
Yes, it is.

3. Are units that would be knocked out otherwise (fall back 10+ cm) that fall back into another unit that is less than 10 cm behind them not knocked out?
I think falling back unit is KO, and unit on it's falling back path is suppressed, or if you roll 10+cm you just KO unit.

Cheers

1. What happens to the command unit?

I think Pete has responded to an earlier question that the command unit moves out of the way.

3. Are units that would be knocked out otherwise (fall back 10+ cm)....

The general view is that the unit does not fall back, instead it is just removed.

3. If the fall back roll is more than 10 the unit is removed regardless of the distance it can actually fallback, if it contacts another unit in its fall back move distance that unit is suppressed.
