A couple of years back someone (I believe with the agreement of Pete) put up an alternative French 1940 list. There was one idea on it that I though was quite interesting. An FAO with a command score of 7 (rather than the 6 of the book), but no movement value, for the same points cost. Which was to represent a Arty Observer in an observation post with a hard line. I think it would make sense for some of the more plodding BKC armies. Obviously they could only be used if the army set up on the board, so not with rolling deployments on anywhere, where the situation is too fluid.

Anyone any thoughts?

I would have no issue with that if it was backed up by historical examples.

Off the top of my head there was the command bunker for the battery at Longues-sur-Mer, which is at the heavy end of the scale.

My problem with that is the CP is classed as Fixed Defenses, meaning it is considered to be as difficult and time consuming to build as concrete bunkers. While an observation post would be more like a trench with a telephone line. That's where I'm coming from.

As long as your oppos don't mind, ignore the Fixed Defences bit, especially if it's scenario-specific. Smile

Or up the CV of the FAO by paying double the cost - I think you can do this - at work, rules at home!
