Posted on 15 June 2015 at 18:38:50 GMT Yes that's right. I went there. With the help of javelin98, Shapeways, Oddzial Osmy and The Wargames Website, I have managed to fulfill a childhood desire of mine and am spending my restful summer evenings painting up a Space Marine army for FWC and/or NetEpic. This is intended for a Horus Heresy campaign or two, so call it Warhammer 30K. The first Battle Company and Land Raider Company of Imperial Legio XIII "Ultramarines" is shaping up. Very fun project so far! And considering that it all started as an idle musing and within a month had become reality, it's a testament to this being the golden age of gaming! |

Posted on 16 June 2015 at 09:06:18 GMT Very very cool - I heartily approve, and so does the Emperor! Blue base coat then a light blue-grey dry brush, pick out weapons and add a decal - or did you free paint those arrows & skulls and... |

I have been doing 6mm 30k world eaters as part of my own Isstvan system campaign heresy project but I feel with 3mm you will really be able to capture the grand scale of the period. Great stuff. |

Posted on 23 July 2015 at 19:51:41 GMT What size are the bases? 1/2" x 1" ? Looks awesome as always! I don't suppose you have a template that you can post for the labels? Not with the art, just the document or whatever it is you use to put the info in and then print. Thanks. |

Posted on 24 July 2015 at 06:03:11 GMT The infantry bases are 1/2" x 3/4" including labels; the vehicles are 3/4" x 1" including labels. I drew all the labels as multi-layered vector art in Adobe Illustrator, so they aren't really made to a template, exactly. However, for printing I convert them to a PDF, which I'd be more than happy to share. The basing material by the way is black styrene sheet, 1mm thick, with the corners filleted using a 2mm radius corner rounder. The texture is Vallejo fine white pumice, painted with a wet blend of Reaper Tanned Leather, Intense Brown and Khaki Highlights. |

Posted on 24 July 2015 at 11:56:39 GMT Thanks for the info on the bases. I actually use .762mm styrene for my bases. I had not thought of rounding the corners, though. Great idea! I assume you print on a sheet of label paper and cut them out? Great inspiration! I just came back from Historicon with several bags full of stuff from PicoArmor so I have a lot of things to work on and this helps motivate me. |

Posted on 24 July 2015 at 14:02:35 GMT Yes, I print on adhesive paper using a color laser printer. I vary between 1/4" and 5/16" high and as wide as the base, but any combination will work, clearly. The corner rounder has been a life saver- sharp corners were tearing my foam storage trays and snagging my terrain. Now, not. It ran me $35 or so but saved me a ton of grief. |
