The example in the Close Assault rules suggests that

1) Glorious Kraytonian commander Malcolm has declared which units are to contact which enemy and which units are to be support, page 38 3rd paragraph.

2) Support units are moved last, once all contact has been made and response fire occured.

The actual rules narrative doesn't say either way, just that units contact and units may support but it makes sense to me otherwise you could move all the supporter first and block LoS for response fire

It's up to you which ones you move and in which order - you can move units out of the way, or as you say, you could move a unit in the way by mistake.
